Fun with analysing some research.
This session is most suited to postgraduate students.
PRIOR READING REQUIRED.This interactive workshops this interactive workshop will analyse a spoof (i.e. joke) research paper in order to show how a critical reader assesses the claims made in a journal paper and decides to what extent they are based on valid and reliable evidence.
It is essential that participants read the paper by Lim et al. (2005) "The case of the disappearing teaspoons" before attending this session and bring a copy to the workshop. Copies of the article are available online or in print from the Edinburgh Campus Library Customer Service Desk.
