How to use EndNote 20 to manage your references (demonstrated on Windows) Online
What is EndNote 20?
EndNote 20 is the Reference Management Software provided to all Heriot-Watt staff and students, for free, and can be installed on your own laptop/PC. It will help you format your citations/references in Word, but it is much more that a citation tool. Having an EndNote Library allows you to store in one place all of the biblographic details you need to cite and reference correctly, but you can also include abstracts, keywords, add your own research notes and attach PDFs – which then become searchable in your EN Library. You can also organise references into folders/groups, based on any of the fields in EndNote (e.g. by keyword, author name, topic etc.). Managing your references in EndNote saves you time, allowing you to spend more time on your research.
Do you want to know how to get started with using EndNote 20?
This webinar will give you an introduction to using EndNote to manage your references, including adding references to your EndNote library and using Cite While you Write to create citations and reference lists in a Word document.
The session will cover:
- Building an EndNote library.
- Adding, exporting and importing references.
- Organising references in your EndNote library.
- Using Cite While You Write to add references to your text.
- Generating and formatting a reference list.
Notes:
- You do not need to install EndNote before attending this webinar as it is a demonstration.
- The librarian teaching this webinar will be using a Windows computer. EndNote is very similar on Windows and MacOS so the webinar is suitable for users of either operating system.
