Getting Started with Research for Assignments In-Person

This is a face-to-face class at the Edinburgh campus starting at 1500 UK time.

Learn how to use Heriot-Watt online resources to find research for your assignments.

This introductory session covers:

- Searching "Discovery" and accessing other databases.

- Search strategy.

- Getting full text journal articles.

- Evaluating the material you find.

This class is aimed at undergraduate students in the early years of their degree, or taught postgraduates who have not had to search for articles before. You can also attend if you would like a refresher on good search techniques, but if you already have some familiarity with researching for assignments you may prefer to attend the more advanced "Finding quality sources for course work" webinars. This class is not suitable for research postgraduates, who will get similar training through Research Futures.
