Doors Open Day: Adam Smith’s Panmure House

Doors Open Day: Adam Smith’s Panmure House   In-Person

Explore our historic landmark as we join hundreds of buildings and venues across Scotland for National Doors Open Day on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September.

You’ll have the chance to step back in time and tour the House, a truly unique asset to Heriot-Watt, in the heart of Edinburgh.

Stand in the very room where Smith completed An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations and explore our Smith Library Restoration.

2024 marks the festival’s 35th anniversary with the theme of Heritage of Routes, Networks and Connections, which we will celebrate through a selection of handpicked books from the library collection for you to enjoy up close, as well as a rare 1st Edition of The Wealth of Nations not usually on display.

This is a golden opportunity to tour the House, so we very much hope to see you there.
