This is an online session delivered from the Edinburgh campus and starts at 10:00 UK time.  


This session is most suitable for undergraduate students and taught postgraduate students working on their dissertation or final year project.  It focuses on a more systematic and thorough approach to literature searching covering:-

  • What is a literature review?
  • Why does a good literature search help the literature review process?
  • What are the different types of literature you might want include/search for?
  • How you can use what you already know to help you find other useful sources
  • Keyword searching (a more systematic approach) 
  • Managing your searches/references 
  • What are the best resources to use?
  • How to save and edit searches and set up alerts
  • Getting hold of the full-text 
  • Where to go for further help
