Cracking the code: Demystifying assessments for students Online

9.30-10.30am UK / 12.30-1.30pm Dubai / 4.30-5.30pm Malaysia

Students do better when they understand what’s expected of them—how to tackle an assessment, what markers are looking for, and how their work will be judged. Clear assessment guidance not only boosts performance but also builds trust in the fairness of the process. But assessment literacy goes beyond just reading a brief. It’s about helping students recognise what quality work looks like in your subject—especially when tasks are unfamiliar or expectations are implicit. In this practical session, we’ll explore simple and effective ways to make assessment expectations clearer. From writing better briefs and rubrics to engaging students in evaluating real examples, you’ll leave with ideas you can apply straight away in your teaching.

This session will take place online.
