PGR University Induction and Networking Fair F2F (Edinburgh, Borders) In-Person
The Postgraduate Researcher University Induction warmly welcomes you to Heriot-Watt University.
This PGR University Induction will cover key aspects of what to expect as you start your doctoral journey, what is expected of you as a researcher and how to maximise the opportunities available to you at Heriot-Watt University. It includes contributions from senior academic staff, experienced research students, Postgraduate Representatives and Research Futures Academy.
Informal networking and development fair will follow, where you will have a chance to meet other new postgraduate researchers and staff from across all our academic Schools. You will also have the opportunity to visit information stands from a range of departments and organisations, such as the Library, HW Engage, Careers Advisory Service, Student Union and Oriam, and Students Wellbeing Services, Chaplaincy, Student Union, Sports Union.
The event will be held in person, on Edinburgh Campus and it's for Edinburgh and Border campus students.
Students attending will have the opportunity to not only meet other new postgraduate researchers from across all of our academic Schools, but learn about what is expected of them and what they should expect during their Research Degree.
Students will also find out about the programmes you could undertake to help you succeed as a postgraduate research student, as well as the support available to you.

Cancellations
All cancellations need to be made on LibCal, no later than 48hrs before each session starts. This will allow a person on the waiting list to attend.
Non-attendance
If you frequently cancel with short notice (less than 48 hours) or fail to show-up, this will be considered as non-attendance. If you miss 5 sessions in the same academic year, we will reach out to you to check in on your wellbeing and notify that you will not be able to book any further places until the end of academic year, unless a valid reason is given. Existing bookings will also be cancelled.
