About this course
‘Data Analysis: Conducting and Troubleshooting’ introduces the key concepts, processes and methodologies of effective data analysis during research projects. In this course, you will discover how conducting effective data analysis will benefit your research and career, and learn how to implement best practices in order to maximise the outputs of your research.

Professor Cristian Bonato (EPS), will lead an informal discussion around the themes and objectives of the online Nature Masterclass ‘Data Analysis: Conducting and Troubleshooting’ focussing on module 1, ‘Introduction to data analysis’
Prior to attending this session, you should have completed at least module 1 'Introduction to data analysis' from the Nature Masterclass 'Data Analysis: Conducting and Troubleshooting'
What is the time commitment to complete the online course?
The whole online course comprises 5 hours of e-learning through 3 modules, however the module we are focussing on for this session is about 1 hour 30 minutes long.
How to start learning now and join the session on 10th December?
We encourage all participants to complete the online Nature Masterclass, ‘Data Analysis: Conducting and Troubleshooting’, prior to attending the discussion session on 10th December, to contribute effectively and make the most out of the learning. However, if you have started but not yet completed the course, you are still welcome to attend on the 10th December and join in the discussion.
Heriot-Watt University’s access to Nature Masterclasses is provided via ‘Single sign-on’
1. Visit Training for researchers & scientists | Nature Masterclasses.
2. If this is your first time accessing the Nature Masterclasses site, click register at the top right of the screen, then on the next screen follow the instructions to complete your profile, selecting ‘Heriot-Watt University’ from the institution drop down options.
3. Confirm your registration.
4. For subsequent sign-ins, choose the login option at the top right of the screen, then select Institutional login (single sign on) and follow the instructions.

Cancellations
All cancellations need to be made on LibCal, no later than 48hrs before each session starts. This will allow a person on the waiting list to attend.
Non-attendance
If you frequently cancel with short notice (less than 48 hours) or fail to show-up, this will be considered as non-attendance. If you miss 5 sessions in the same academic year, we will reach out to you to check in on your wellbeing and notify that you will not be able to book any further places until the end of academic year, unless a valid reason is given. Existing bookings will also be cancelled.
